    FLASH--For release at 4:00 a.m. Eastern Time (Friday, October 6, 2006)
Gallaudet University student protesters have successfully entered and barricaded all the entrances to the Hall Memorial Building (HMB), the main classroom building on the Gallaudet campus. At 4:00 a.m., they plan to seal it off completely to prevent classes from taking place tomorrow.
Here is the verbatim report from one protester using his pocket pager:
    QUOTE:
The FSSA Spokespeople and the supporters of the protest met at the SAC. We discussed what we planned to lock down and how. We all voted HMB [Hall Memorial Building], due to the majority of classes here. Keep in mind we did this secretly. We all got into HMB. From that point on we all were aiming to get all the doors locked. How? We used tables, chairs, wires, locks, bungee cords, and you name it, we used it. Around midnight. DPS [Gallaudet campus police] finally heard about us getting into HMB. They tried to intrude on one of the main entrances of the west part of HMB. Surprisingly, they were clueless of the situation. However, they tried to get in. They were unsuccessful! They finally gave up. After that, some of us gathered up our tents and blocked some of the entrances. However the lock down does not start until 4:00 [a.m. in the morning]. We will not, and I emphasize, will not allow anyone in after four. At around 4 or 5 the faculty will start showing up. That is when we all made our shifts and decided to block the entrance with our arms locked. DPS cannot touch us! We will be peaceful, not violent.
